A small card.
A clear introduction.

Build a focused modelling portfolio in a format agents, clients and casting teams can quickly understand.

What is a comp card?

A comp card, short for composite card, is a model’s visual business card. It brings a lead portrait, a small selection of photographs, measurements and booking contact details into one easy introduction. A modeling comp card helps a casting team remember your look after a meeting.

Comp card size (A5 vs 5.5 × 8.5 in).

A5 is 148 × 210 mm and is commonly used in Europe. The US format is 5.5 × 8.5 inches, or 139.7 × 215.9 mm. This maker exports either size with an extra 3 mm of bleed on every edge in the PDF. Check your printer’s trim size and colour requirements before ordering.

What to put on a comp card.

Use one strong front portrait, your name and an optional agency logo. On the back, choose three to five photographs that show different looks, then add current height, bust or chest, waist, hips, dress or suit size, shoe size, hair and eye colour where relevant. Include the contact details you want clients to use. Only include photos you have permission to reproduce.

Zed card and sedcard: the same thing.

Comp card, composite card, zed card and sedcard describe the same kind of model introduction. Zed card is used in the UK, while sedcard is common in Germany. Choose the name your agency uses; the essential photographs and details are the same.

Digital vs printed comp cards.

A JPEG is convenient for sharing digitally. A PDF with the correct trim size and bleed is useful for a print handover. This maker provides both: a two-sided share image and a two-page, 300 dpi RGB PDF. Keep text and important facial details inside the card edges, and ask your printer whether they need a CMYK conversion or a print proof.

How agencies use comp cards.

Agencies use comp cards to introduce talent to clients, support casting conversations and leave a concise reminder of a model’s look and measurements. Cards work best when photographs and details are current. Posa’s planned agency workflow will create branded comp cards from model profiles; that profile-based feature is not available in the staff preview yet.
